About Bonded Concrete
Over 100 years of producing
and still going strong.
Built by expanding what we are able to do.
1903
Our history begins with a belief in work, opportunity, and progress.
On May 14, 1903, Carmine Antonio Clemente arrived at Ellis Island from Cervinara, Italy, alongside his 15-year-old son, Salvatore. At 45 years old, married and the father of six, Carmine made the uncommon decision to start again. For him, the American Dream was not behind him. It was just beginning.
Carmine and Salvatore settled in Troy, New York, taking on manual labor jobs and laying the foundation for the rest of their family to follow. What began as determination and hard work would grow into something far larger.
1915
Supplying Raw Materials
By 1915, years of labor and savings allowed Carmine and his sons, Salvatore and Orazio, to purchase a sand and gravel operation atop Hoosick Street in Troy, New York and launched Clemente Bros. With that purchase, the family moved from laborers to material suppliers.
This step marked the beginning of a vertically minded business model, focused on controlling quality at the source. Aggregates became the first building block of a long-term vision to be a quality provider of construction materials.
1930s
Moving Into Concrete Production
In the 1930s, the family expanded beyond raw materials and into ready-mix concrete production along the Hudson River in Troy.
This evolution allowed the Clementes to supply not only aggregates, but finished materials essential to building roads, bridges, homes, and commercial structures. It was a natural progression. The family wasn’t changing direction. They were expanding capabilities
1950s – 1960s
Scaling Service and Reliability
As demand grew across the New York State Capital Region, the next generation expanded operations to better serve customers with dependable, local supply. In 1957, Carmine’s grandsons, Anthony and Salvatore “Tory” Clemente, founded Troy Sand & Gravel in West Sand Lake, New York and founded Bonded Concrete in Colonie, New York in 1964.
This period cemented (pun intended) the family’s reputation for reliability, quality, and hands-on involvement in every aspect of the operation.
1980s–1990s
Broadening Materials and Markets
By the late 20th century, the family expanded into the asphalt business with its first asphalt plant being constructed in West Sand Lake, NY. In addition to product offering expansions, the family began to expand geographically into Connecticut, Massachusetts and Vermont
These expansions served to strengthen geographic reach and reinforced a vertically integrated business approach. By increasingly utilizing its aggregate sourcing, processing, and delivery to supply their continuously expanding ready-mix concrete and asphalt locations, the family enhanced its reputation for consistency, quality, and responsiveness across multiple markets.
TODAY
Today, Carmine Clemente’s great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren continue to build upon the foundation he laid more than a century ago.
Our operations now span from Utica, New York in the west to Boston, Massachusetts in the east, and from Lake George in the north to Westchester County in the south. Across this region, we supply aggregates, ready-mix concrete, and construction materials that support roads, bridges, schools, hospitals, homes, and communities.
For more than 100 years, our growth has been driven not by chasing trends, but by expanding capability. Each generation has focused on doing more, doing it better, and doing it responsibly.
As we move forward, we remain committed to the same principles that guided our beginnings: hard work, attention to detail, integrity, environmental responsibility, and being a dependable partner to the communities we serve.
We are proud of our past, focused on the work ahead, and committed to continuing to build America’s infrastructure for generations to come.
